Biosecurity update
An exotic plant pest called Vegetable Leaf Miner (Liromyza sativae) has been detected in the Torres Strait on Warraber Island, during routine surveillance carried out by the Northern Australian Quarantine Strategy (NAQS). This pest has not previously been detected in Australia.
Student Scholarship closing soon!
In July, entries opened for the industry’s Certified Nursery Professional (CNP) Student Scholarship. This scholarship is offering two lucky horticultural students an all expense paid trip to attend the Urban GreensScapes Symposium 2009 and the Nursery and Garden Industry National Conference and Exhibition to be held in Canberra from February 17 to 19, 2009.
Proposed removal of Gladiolus Rust restrictions in Western Australia
The Department of Agriculture & Food WA (DAFWA) believes the current restrictions due to the threat of the disease Gladiolus Rust are no longer justified and should be removed.
What's in a name? - free conference
The Australian Centre for Intellectual Property in Agriculture (ACIPA) in conjunction with Horticulture Australia (HAL) is holding a free conference that looks at the important role that naming and branding plats in Australian horticulture.
