New OAMPS insurance package recognises Industry accreditation programs
NGIA is pleased to advise the new Nurserypac Plus insurance product from OAMPS Insurance Brokers recognises the benefits of the Nursery Industry accreditation programs NIASA and AGCAS - premium discounts are provided for accredited businesses. This is positive news as in some cases the 5 -10% discount would cover part of the costs of a business becoming accredited and shows that Industry best practice is a sound risk management investment. Newspoll results - interesting implications for Industry
To launch spring for 2009 and create a platform from which to steer Industry programs, Nursery & Garden Industry Australia (NGIA) commissioned a Newspoll survey in July which interviewed 1,200 respondents and highlighted the changing scope of the Australian backyard.
2010 NGI Awards – submissions judging completed
Judging of the submissions for the 2010 Nursery & Garden Industry (NGI) Awards has been completed and according to Submissions Judge Peter Whitehead, the calibre of entries is much higher this year.

AgriFood Skills International Fellowships
AgriFood Skills Australia has advised us that applications for two international agrifood fellowships will close on September 7, 2009. The fellowships are valued at $10,000 each and are being made available to all sectors of the agrifood industry in collaboration with the International Specialised Skills Institute.
