Industry careers showcase in ACT
Recently year 9, 10 and 11 students in Canberra were exposed to the exciting world of Horticulture via a presentation and tour organised by the ACT Student Industry Program (an organisation funded by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations).
This full day event showcased the breadth of the industry and career opportunities including Australia School Based Apprenticeships (ASBA’s) and full-time training.
The tour included visits to Government House, Bruce Stadium, Yarralumla Nursery and the Royal Canberra Golf Course.
Parents were also encouraged to attend the presentation at the conclusion of the tour to access information and material on careers within the industry.
As part of their information show-bags, the students were given material on Nursery & Garden Industry career opportunities via the new Green-Life Career brochure which directs the reader to www.greenlifecareers.com.au
This event is one of many that take place all over Australia. We are keen to spread the word about the opportunities available in our industry. If you hear of any of these types of events taking place in your area, please give NGIA or your state association a call, or send an email, so that we can ensure our industry is represented via attendance or via printed information.
