Obama's vegie patch causing concern amongst right-wingers
The vegie garden which Michelle Obama has planted outside the White House has raised concerns amongst conservatives and the influence Michelle Obama may exert over environmental policy in her husband's Administration.
Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show
The Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show (MIFGS), was held from April 1 to 5 at Carlton Gardens, Melbourne. As usual the event stood at a high standard on a world scale, with dazzling displays, glorious green-life, fantastic floral designs and fun for all.
Nursery & Garden Industry Victoria (NGIV) had a strong presence at the show, with the Avenue of Achievable Gardens and a stand and resting area for NGIV members, as well as Revealed, which launched new innovations in the Victorian industry.

The nursery and garden industry is proud to announce the release of its Grow Me Instead booklets, launched in Melbourne on April 1 in conjunction with the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show (MIGFS).
NGIA staff visit the Top End
In early April NGIA Marketing & Communications Manager Jacqui Gibbs and National Environmental & Technical Policy Manager Anthony Kachenko went to Darwin to meet with industry people and look at possible locations for nursery visits for the 2010 National Conference.

CNP Student Scholarship winners:
Last year, the first ever CNP Student Scholarships were awarded. To be eligible for a Scholarship recipients had to be in their final year of studying for a qualification in horticulture (Certificate III or above) at the time of applying.
There were two Scholarships, one for a student in a metropolitan area, and one for a student in a rural area, and the prize for each winner was expense-paid participation in the Urban GreenScapes Symposium 2009 and Nursery & Garden Industry Conference, which took place in Canberra last month.
