Record entries to be judged in 2008 Awards
Judging commenced this week for a record number of entries in the second year of the new look nursery and garden industry awards
Convenors of the Yates Nursery & Garden Industry Awards have reported a 17% increase in the entries for 2008 over 2007, illustrating the industry’s recognition of the importance of the awards system to showcase excellence and celebrate industry achievement.
According to Geoff Richards, President of Nursery & Garden Industry Australia (NGIA), the Awards are an integral part in boosting professionalism within the industry and rewarding best business practice.
“Having entered the awards, individual businesses have taken the opportunity to review their operation and use the experience to assist in their future business planning,” said Geoff.
“The awards present an opportunity to benchmark your business against others while learning more about your own…and the benefits for you and your customers are ten-fold when you reach the winners circle.”
Entries for the 2008 Yates Nursery & Garden Industry Awards closed on 23 July.
Judging for written submissions commenced on August 6. On-site visits for garden centres and production nurseries will follow, with state winners to be announced at the individual state awards nights.
