Spring PR launch brings gardens alive to media
Three of the biggest names in the gardening world gathered at the Life is a Garden Spring PR launch this week to promote the sensuousness of gardens to a media audience.
Meredith Kirton, Linda Ross and Josh Byrne were guest speakers at the 2007 Life is a Garden Spring PR launch hosted by Nursery & Garden Industry Australia (NGIA). Hosted at an exciting harbour venue in Sydney, the event attracted over 60 lifestyle and food media representatives from broadcast and print as well as members of the Horticultural Media Association.
According to national communications & PR manager Tracey Wigg, the launch was a fabulous way to get the media excited about gardens and their place in Australian culture.
“Gardens are such a visual experience. The launch was a great opportunity to illustrate stories in a garden, albeit a surprise garden in an inner city venue. We wanted to reinforce that gardens really do come in all shapes and sizes,” said Tracey.
Renowned garden writers and media personalities Meredith Kirton and Linda Ross imbued the city venue with a sensuous garden atmosphere through the use of garden displays designed to evoke the five senses. Meredith and Linda shared their personal garden stories - Linda explored the intimate relationships she shared with the plants in her life while Meredith spoke about the gardens and plants that had accompanied her through her life's journey.
TV garden presenter, author and environmentalist Josh Byrne presented the environmental aspect of the garden story, illustrating the many faces of sustainable gardening.
Full coverage of this event will be featured in the next edition of NGIA Clippings.
