Horticulture teachers #1 on Industry Training hit list
NGIA Training & Recognition has set its sights on horticulture teachers and educators this June, with the aim of encouraging as many teachers as possible to actively engage with the industry.
Recognising the importance of educators to the growth of the industry, NGIA is reaching out to horticulture teachers all over the country to offer them free updates on the latest industry developments. Horticulture teachers can register online via the NGI website www.ngia.com.au or by post to keep their knowledge up-to-date – the easy way.
“The results of the National Skill Study 2005/06 found that many employers feel that educators do not keep up-to-date with the latest industry news, strategies and techniques. They also consider the VET system to be too complex,” said national training & recognition manager Candice McNamara.
“This initiative is about strengthening the relationship and increasing the flow of information between industry and educators. Opening up these lines of communication and helping teachers to ‘stay in the loop’ with industry developments will benefit both groups,” continued Candice.
By registering their details with NGIA, teachers will receive regular industry updates including the latest news, information on the outcomes of research and development studies and promotional information. Educators will also have opportunities to offer their input into the industry’s skill development.
