Proposed removal of Gladiolus Rust restrictions in Western Australia
The Department of Agriculture & Food WA (DAFWA) believes the current restrictions that are imposed due to the threat of the disease Gladiolus Rust are no longer justified and should be removed.
Currently plants and cut flowers (except corms free from trash) of Babiana (baboon flower, baboon root), Crocos, Crocosmia aurea (Planchon), Gladiolus, Tritonia and Watsonia into Western Australia are restricted due to the threat of the disease Gladiolus rust (Uromyces transversalis) entering the state's borders.
Host material entering WA must currently be authorised by an officer of the Department of Agriculture (or its equivalent) in the exporting state, territory or country, and certified as being grown in an area where the disease has not been detected.
