Be part of the solution this World Environment Day
This World Environment Day, Australians who want to make a positive impact on the environment are being encouraged to start in their own backyards – with a little help from their local garden centre.
NGIA is celebrating World Environment Day on 5 June with two campaigns promoting local garden centres as the best place to get advice on how to make a positive difference to the environment in your own backyard.
‘Our environment, your backyard’ is the key message behind this year’s World Environment Day and Flora for Fauna campaigns. The World Environment Day campaign encourages consumers to ‘Think Locally, Act Globally’ – making a positive impact on the environment could be as simple as caring for your own backyard. The Flora for Fauna campaign educates consumers on how to Bring Life to their Garden and create an ecological safe haven for birds and other wildlife.
“Environmental issues like global warming are top of mind for most Australians but many people often don’t know where to start to take action,” said National Communications & PR Manager Tracey Wigg.
“These campaigns encourage consumers to take steps towards creating a sustainable future by discovering what they can do to support the environment in their own backyard."
Positioning local garden centres as the experts on garden ecosystems, these campaigns have already attracted over 100 participating garden centres.
NGIA will be promoting these campaigns through local media and reinforcing consumer messages through fact sheets and tips on the Life is a garden website www.lifeisagarden.com.au. All participating garden centres will be provided with a garden centre information kit, in-store posters and postcards.
